Tonkeeper is the most popular wallet for the TON blockchain. If you’re just starting with TON in 2026, Tonkeeper is most likely what you want. This guide covers what it is, how to install, how to use the main features, and what to do if things go wrong.

What Tonkeeper is in one paragraph

Tonkeeper is a non-custodial wallet for TON. An app that:

  • Stores your private keys (24-word seed phrase) locally on your device.
  • Signs transactions locally.
  • Shows balance, history, sends/receives TON and jettons.
  • Connects to dApps via TON Connect.

Tonkeeper does NOT hold your funds on servers. If your device breaks — without the seed phrase, not even the developers can recover the wallet.

Where to download (this is critical)

OFFICIAL SOURCE — only tonkeeper.com. Nowhere else. Not from links in Telegram chats, not from “friendly support DMs”.

How to install:

  • Mobile: App Store / Google Play, search “Tonkeeper” — publisher must be “Tonkeeper Inc”.
  • Desktop: tonkeeper.com → Desktop section → download installer for Windows / macOS / Linux.
  • Browser extension: Chrome Web Store / Firefox Add-ons, search “Tonkeeper”, verify publisher is Tonkeeper Inc.

Phishing red flags:

  • URL like tonkeperr.com, t0nkeeper.com, tonkeeper-app.com — fake.
  • App in third-party stores (apkpure, etc.) — could be substituted.
  • DM in Telegram offering “the new version” — never works that way.

More — safe TON discovery checklist.

Creating a new wallet: step by step

  1. Open the app.
  2. “Create new wallet”.
  3. You’ll see a 24-word seed phrase. Write it on paper. NO screenshots, NO cloud.
  4. Confirm the 24 words (the app asks for 3-5 random ones to verify you wrote them down).
  5. Done. You get an address like EQDxxx... or UQDxxx....

After first creation (critically important):

  • Close Tonkeeper.
  • Delete the app.
  • Reinstall.
  • Restore the wallet from the seed phrase.
  • See the same address — that confirms the seed works.

90% of newcomers skip this step and a year later find themselves saying “wallet lost, no seed”. Do it while the balance is $0.

Importing an existing wallet

If you already have a TON wallet (e.g., from @wallet in Telegram or MyTonWallet) and want to move to Tonkeeper:

  1. “Import existing wallet”.
  2. Enter the 24-word seed phrase.
  3. Wait a few seconds for sync.

You can import multiple wallets — Tonkeeper supports multi-wallet mode. Switch between them in the top panel.

Main screen: what’s where

After opening you see:

  • Balance (TON + USD equivalent).
  • Buttons: Send / Receive / Swap / Buy.
  • List of jettons and NFTs below the balance.
  • Transaction feed below.

In version 4.7.0+ (May 2026), while the balance loads you see a grey skeleton loader instead of “$0”, which removes the “wait, did I lose everything?” panic.

How to send TON

  1. Send button.
  2. Enter recipient:
    • Full TON address EQDxxx... or UQDxxx....
    • Or a .ton domain (e.g., alice.ton).
    • Or a Telegram username (if they have @username.t.me linked).
  3. Enter the amount in TON or USD (Tonkeeper converts).
  4. Optionally — a comment (memo). Many exchanges require memo for deposits.
  5. Verify the address character by character, especially the last 4-6 (protects against address poisoning).
  6. Confirm → transaction goes, takes 1-3 seconds.

How to receive TON

  1. Receive button.
  2. Shows your address + QR.
  3. Share either the address or the QR.
  4. Tonkeeper sends a push notification when funds arrive.

You can share the address publicly — it’s the public side, like a bank account number. No risk.

Swap (in-TON exchange)

Tonkeeper has a built-in swap that routes through STON.fi and DeDust under the hood.

  1. Swap button.
  2. Pick the pair (e.g., TON → USDT-jetton).
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. See expected output and spread (~0.5-1.5%).
  5. Confirm.

For large amounts (>1000 TON) better to swap directly on STON.fi or DeDust — price impact may be better. More — DEX comparison.

TON Connect: connecting to dApps

When you visit a Mini App or web app using TON Connect:

  1. The site shows a QR or deeplink.
  2. You scan in Tonkeeper or tap the deeplink on mobile.
  3. Tonkeeper shows: domain, what the app requests, which operations.
  4. You confirm the connection.

Security: before confirming read what you’re signing. If the request is unclear — refuse. More — TON Connect and phishing.

From version 4.7.0 the signData spoofing path is closed (a malicious dApp can no longer spoof the request’s domain).

Staking via Tonkeeper

Tonkeeper supports direct staking in Tonstakers, Whales Pool, and others:

  1. Go to Earn (or Staking).
  2. Pick a protocol.
  3. Enter the amount.
  4. Receive stTON (or equivalent), accruing ~4-5% per annum.

More — staking protocols comparison.

Buy TON directly in the wallet

The Buy button routes through partner services (Mercuryo, MoonPay, Transak, Banxa). Pay by card, receive TON to your address. On-ramp provider fees are ~3-5%.

In some regions Mercuryo and MoonPay may not work; alternatives — P2P via Bybit/OKX.

Tonkeeper Pro: paid subscription

Tonkeeper Pro is a paid tier with extra features:

  • Multi-account UI.
  • Watch-only wallets.
  • Extended analytics.
  • Priority support.

The base version covers 99% of needs. Pro makes sense for active DeFi users or merchants. More — Tonkeeper Pro review.

Top newcomer mistakes

  1. Seed in screenshot / cloud. → leak → total loss.
  2. Didn’t verify recovery right away. → seed on paper is wrong → loss a year later.
  3. Went to tonkeperr.com instead of tonkeeper.com. → entered seed → loss.
  4. Trusted a DM “support” in Telegram and entered the seed “for verification”. → loss.
  5. Copied address from history without verifying last chars. → fell into address poisoning → funds to scammer.

All 5 are typical. More — 7 beginner mistakes with TON.

What’s next

Tonkeeper isn’t complicated. 90% of users have no problems with it. Main thing — follow basic security rules and the wallet will serve you for years.

Frequently asked

Tonkeeper is a non-custodial wallet for the TON blockchain. The most popular TON wallet as of 2026 with ~5M active users. Available as a mobile app (iOS, Android), desktop app (Windows, macOS, Linux), and browser extension. 'Non-custodial' means keys live on your device, not on Tonkeeper's servers. Lose the seed phrase — the team can't restore the wallet.
On the app side — yes. Code is open (github.com/tonkeeper), audited externally multiple times, actively maintained. Main risks are user-side: phishing copies of the wallet site (always verify URL is tonkeeper.com), seed phrase in cloud-synced screenshot, careless clicks on TON Connect requests.
Tonkeeper is the most mature and feature-rich. MyTonWallet is multi-chain (TON + BTC, ETH, USDT-TRC20), actively developed. Tonhub is mobile-first and simpler. @wallet in Telegram is custodial with the lowest barrier. If picking one — for primary holdings use Tonkeeper, for micro-ops use @wallet. Full comparison — in our [wallet comparison piece](/en/blog/tonkeeper-vs-mytonwallet-vs-tonhub-vs-wallet-comparison-2026/).
You can't. This is a fundamental property of non-custodial cryptography: without the 24-word seed phrase, no access is possible. The Tonkeeper team CANNOT restore your wallet, even if you show your passport. Lesson: after creating the wallet (even with $0), write the seed on paper, verify via delete+reinstall, and store safely.
Only TON. It's a TON-specific wallet. For multi-chain (TON + BTC + ETH), use MyTonWallet or Bitget Wallet. Within TON, Tonkeeper supports native TON, jettons (USDT-jetton, NOT, DOGS, stTON, etc.), NFTs, and Telegram Gifts.
Yes. As of May 2026 the current version is 4.7.0 stable. It contains a signData security fix (a malicious dApp could spoof the request's domain), a reworked swap, and analytics. More — [4.7.0 stable release](/en/blog/tonkeeper-4-7-0-stable-released-may-2026/). Tonkeeper updates roughly every 4-6 weeks.
