Gram (GRAM)

Native cryptocurrency of the TON blockchain since June 1, 2026. The Toncoin rebrand under the MTONGA program. Same asset; contracts and addresses unchanged — only the name and ticker change.

Aliases: gram, gram coin, native gram, toncoin gram

Gram (GRAM) is the native cryptocurrency of the TON blockchain as of June 1, 2026. It’s the rebrand of the existing Toncoin (TON), executed under Pavel Durov’s MTONGA (Make TON Great Again) program.

Key fact

Gram = Toncoin, technically. Only the name and ticker on exchanges change. No swap, no migration, no new token — this is the same asset under a new name.

  • Ticker: GRAM (was TON)
  • Contracts: unchanged
  • Wallet addresses: unchanged
  • Total supply: ~5.13 billion (same)
  • Price: matches pre-announcement Toncoin price (excluding short-term news-driven pump)

Rebrand date

June 1, 2026, 15:48 UTC — Pavel Durov posted in @durov:

“We’re returning to our roots — and starting a new chapter. This is step 4 of 7 to make TON great again.”

This is step 4 of 7 in the MTONGA program. The transition window is roughly 3 weeks, during which exchanges and wallets switch UI from TON to GRAM.

Historical note

The name Gram is not new. It appeared in Telegram’s 2017 whitepaper and the 2018 ICO when the team raised $1.7 billion to launch TON. After losing the US SEC case in 2020, Telegram abandoned the project, and the community renamed the native coin to Toncoin to legally distance.

The 5-year SEC ban on using the Gram name expired in May 2025. The return to Gram in 2026 is a symbolic full circle: Telegram formally reclaims the project’s identity.

Important: don’t confuse with the Gram jetton

A different asset with the GRAM ticker exists in the TON ecosystem — the Gram jetton (a 2024 PoW community token, “Bitcoin of TON”). These are completely different:

  • Native Gram (ex-Toncoin): ~$15 billion market cap, ~$5 price
  • Jetton Gram (PoW): ~$6 million market cap, ~$0.001 price

When buying, verify the contract address: native Gram has no jettonMaster (it’s a base network asset); the jetton Gram has an EQB... address.

What holders should do

  • No action required — balances, addresses, seed phrases stay the same
  • Update wallets via App Store / Google Play over 2–3 weeks
  • Don’t trust “migration sites” or “swap to Gram” services — always phishing

Where it trades

After the transition window, Gram is listed on the same exchanges as Toncoin: Binance, Bybit, OKX, MEXC, Bitget, HTX, Kraken, KuCoin, Gate.io. The ticker switches from TON to GRAM over 1–3 weeks (pace varies by exchange).

Asset properties

Emission and tokenomics unchanged — see the Toncoin entry for full parameters: 5.13B total supply, 0.6% annual inflation, 55–60% of circulating in staking, network gas currency.
